After spending his whole career as a Billy Goat Polish midfielder Adam Matuszczyk will make the switch to the Lion’s den after signing a three-year deal with Bundesliga 2 side, Eintracht Braunschweig.
The twenty-six-year-old came through the ranks at Köln and has only spent a brief spell away from the club when he went on loan to Fortuna Düsseldorf for six months, during that time he only made eight appearances. For Köln he has played over one hundred times for them gaining experience in both the Bundesliga 2, Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal. Experience that will prove to be very valuable next season as Braunschweig will hope to earn a return to Germany’s top flight.
As well as playing in Germany’s top flight Matuszczyk has represented Poland twenty-one times and after just eight appearances this season the move will be a good step in his career. Matuszczyk was a key member of the Köln’s promotion winning side last season, making twenty-two appearances and the season before he made twenty-eight. The Pole will be hoping he can get similar appearance number’s next season and perhaps impress enough to warrant a return to the Poland squad.
Matuszczyk on his move, “Eintracht Braunschweig is a traditional club with great fans in a football-crazy city. I look forward to the new challenge.” Matuszczyk should be a decent addition to Braunschweig and the Lion fan’s will be hoping their new man get’s some playing time for Köln before the end of the season so they can get a good look at him. Here’s what he had to say about Köln, “I had a wonderful time. For this I am very grateful to the club and I will give everything till the last game to finish the season as successful as possible”.
